Pick Out 2 is a logic game based on the familiar board game PEXESO. Everyone knows the rules of this game. A limited number of cards (42 in our case) are spread out on the table (in our case, on the screen), which are divided into pairs with the same drawing on the front side. These cards are first shuffled and turned upside down so that it is not possible to find out which card hides which picture. Then the players gradually reveal two arbitrary cards in an attempt to find an identical pair. If one of the players succeeds, he has the right to another turn. If he does not guess, he returns the cards to their original position and it is the next player’s turn. The game ends when all the cards are revealed and the player who guessed the largest number of identical pairs wins.
The computer implementation has allowed us to make several significant improvements to this game. The first is the possibility (in addition to the classic game mode, i.e. player versus player) of playing one player against the computer. You will appreciate this advantage especially when you feel like playing a memory game, but you will not have a partner at hand. Of course, playing against the computer in the true sense of the word is impossible, because the computer understandably knows the layout of the cards, and therefore would immediately find all the pairs. Playing with the computer is therefore conceived a little differently and the motivation here is both a time limit, during which you must discover all the pairs of cards and, secondly, there are nice bonus pictures, which are revealed in stages after each game you win.
The second improvement is that you play successively with three completely different sets of cards. After each winning round, not only is a part of the premium image revealed, but the entire set of cards is also replaced. The third improvement will be appreciated only by owners of a ZX SPECTRUM 128K computer or a MELODIK sound interface. They will appreciate the beautiful music that plays during the one- and two-player game. All these improvements will certainly contribute to the fact that you will like the Pick Out 2 game and will not get bored of it so quickly.
