Widow’s Bay — Official Teaser Trailer (The Sea Hag) | Apple TV
Have you heard the story of the Sea Hag?
Widow’s Bay premieres April 29 on Apple TV https://apple.co/_WidowsBay
A new series starring Matthew Rhys from creator Katie Dippold and director Hiro Murai.
“Widow’s Bay” is a quaint island town 40-miles off the coast of New England. But something lurks beneath the surface. Mayor Tom Loftis (Matthew Rhys) is desperate to revive his struggling community. There’s no wifi, spotty cellular reception, and he must contend with superstitious old locals who believe their island is cursed. He wants these people to respect him. They don’t. They think he is soft and cowardly. And he is. But Loftis is determined to build a better future for his teenage son and turn the island into a tourist destination. Miraculously, Loftis succeeds: tourists are finally coming. Unfortunately, the locals were right. After decades of calm, the old stories that seemed too ludicrous to be true start happening again. “Widow’s Bay” blends genuine horror with an undercurrent of character-driven comedy. Rhys stars alongside an ensemble cast led by Kate O’Flynn, Stephen Root, Kingston Rumi Southwick, Kevin Carroll, and Dale Dickey.
Hailing from Apple Studios, “Widow’s Bay” is created, showrun, executive produced and written by Dippold. Murai executive produces alongside Carver Karaszewski, Claudia Shin and Rhys. Murai directs five episodes this season, in addition to directors Ti West, Sam Donovan and Andrew DeYoung.

Widow’s Bay — Official Teaser Trailer (The Sea Hag) | Apple TV
In the opening frames of the teaser for Widow’s Bay, The Sea Hag casts a long shadow across a coastline that feels both familiar and unknown. The seaside town, with its weathered piers and salt-worn lampposts, serves not merely as a backdrop but as a character in its own right, inviting viewers to lean in as the tide pulls secrets toward the shore.
What begins as a contemplative study of place soon shifts, revealing the texture of lived memory. The Sea Hag, an emblem of folklore and fear, moves with a measured grace that suggests power without bravado. Her presence is felt in the hush between crashing waves and the creak of wooden boards, a reminder that in Widow’s Bay, the past is never fully at rest. The teaser hints at a resonance between land and lineage—the land remembering what the people might forget, and the people wrestling with what the land remembers.
Visually, the trailer employs muted palettes and deliberate pacing to establish mood: the gray-blue of the sea, the pale wash of morning fog, and the copper glint of late afternoon sun catching on metallic railings. These choices are more than aesthetic; they frame a narrative emphasis on what lingers beneath surface appearances. The Sea Hag’s silhouette is a study in restraint, suggesting motives that unfold through implication rather than overt exposition.
Thematically, Widow’s Bay promises a meditation on resilience, sacrifice, and the uneasy symbiosis between a community and its legends. The teaser invites audiences to consider how stories are stewarded, how truth survives—or is altered—through retellings, and how a town’s most stubborn truths resist the quick revelation of a single clue.
For viewers seeking a narrative that balances atmosphere with a thread of suspense, this teaser offers a compelling entree. The Sea Hag’s menace is not merely a source of fright; it is a catalyst for introspection, prompting questions about who we are when the shorelines of memory begin to erode. In a genre landscape crowded with loud revelations, Widow’s Bay appears poised to reward careful watching, returning again to thePhrase that lingers after the credits: some tides remember us longer than we remember them.
As the trailer closes, a final image lingers on the calm surface of the bay—glassy, almost gleaming—hinting at the revelations to come without surrendering them all at once. The Sea Hag, folded into the quiet, leaves the audience with a quiet imperative: listen closely, for the sea often speaks in whispers that carry the weight of history.
