Shrek 5 – Official Teaser Trailer (2027) Mike Myers, Zendaya, Eddie Murphy, Cameron Diaz
Check out the teaser trailer for Shrek 5, an upcoming magical comedy adventure animated film from DreamWorks Animation. Shrek 5 stars Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, and Cameron Diaz as they return to their signature roles as Shrek, Donkey and Fiona. Zendaya joins the cast as Shrek and Fiona’s daughter Felicia, along with Marcello Hernandez and Skyler Gisondo as Felicia’s brothers, Fergus and Farkle. Shrek 5 opens in theaters in summer 2027.
Shrek 5 is directed by acclaimed filmmakers and Shrek franchise veterans Conrad Vernon and Walt Dohrn. Vernon was a member of the directing team on the Academy Award nominated Shrek 2 as well as on DreamWorks Animation’s Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted and Monsters vs. Aliens. Vernon has also provided the voice of Shrek fan-favorite Gingerbread Man, aka “Gingy,” across all titles in the Shrek Universe. Dohrn worked on the second and third Shrek films as a writer and artist and as Head of Story on the fourth film. Dohrn also voiced the character of Rumpelstiltskin in Shrek Forever After. Dohrn served as co-director on the first Trolls film and directed Trolls World Tour and Trolls Band Together.
The film is produced by returning producer Gina Shay (Trolls franchise), who produced Shrek Forever After and by Illumination CEO and Academy Award nominee Chris Meledandri (the Super Mario, Despicable Me and Minions franchises). The film is co-directed by Brad Ableson (Minions: The Rise of Gru, The Simpsons).

Shrek 5 – Official Teaser Trailer (2027) Mike Myers, Zendaya, Eddie Murphy, Cameron Diaz
The long-awaited return to Far, Far Away arrives with a teaser that blends nostalgic charm with contemporary storytelling. Shrek 5, slated for a 2027 release, artfully extends the beloved ogre’s journey while introducing fresh dynamics that promise to broaden the franchise’s appeal for both longtime fans and new audiences.
In the official teaser, Mike Myers reprises the voice of Shrek with the same unmistakable timbre that defined a generation of animated adventures. The performance grounds the film in its signature humor—dry wit, misadventure, and unexpectedly tender moments—while allowing room for subtle evolutions in Shrek’s character arc. This installment appears poised to balance the series’ classic fairy-tale satire with a more nuanced exploration of identity, community, and personal growth.
Joining the cast, Zendaya brings a contemporary sensibility and a dynamic energy that hints at a pivotal new character who challenges and complements Shrek’s worldview. Her presence broadens the film’s tonal reach, offering a bridge between the familiar ogre-centric humor and a modern, character-driven narrative that resonates with today’s audiences. Eddie Murphy’s Donkey remains a cornerstone of the world’s charm, delivering his signature zing while deepening the camaraderie that underscores Shrek’s unlikely companionships.
Cameron Diaz, returning to the role that helped shape the franchise’s heart, contributes a layer of warmth and resilience. The teaser suggests Diaz’s character—whether a steadfast ally or a reimagined counterpart—will play a central part in the story’s emotional core, reinforcing the ensemble cast’s chemistry and stakes.
Visually, the teaser confirms a lush, expanded Far, Far Away, with vibrant color palettes, witty sight gags, and a refined animation language that honors the series’ legacy while embracing modern production values. The world feels both familiar and refreshed, inviting audiences to re-enter a universe where fairy-tale logic meets contemporary humor and adventure.
The narrative thread implied by the teaser centers on themes of belonging, courage, and the power of unlikely friendships. Shrek’s evolution—toward greater self-awareness without losing the heart and humor that define him—appears to be the throughline that will carry the film from set-piece escapades to moments of genuine emotion.
As anticipation builds for a full trailer, industry observers note the careful balance this film must strike: honoring a beloved franchise while pushing forward with fresh energy, new characters, and contemporary sensibilities. Early impressions suggest that Shrek 5 aims to deliver the same cultural touchstone that characterized its predecessors, while offering a modern resonance that speaks to diverse audiences.
For fans awaiting more concrete plot details, the teaser delivers a promise rather than a spoiler—a testament to the filmmakers’ confidence in a legacy that continues to grow. If the official trailer is any indication, Shrek 5 will honor the franchise’s roots while inviting everyone to discover what Far, Far Away looks like in a world that has changed since the first swamp-side misadventure.
In anticipation of the full promotional rollout, the teaser sets a high bar for voice performances, character dynamics, and visual storytelling. With a talented quartet in the principal roles and a renewed sense of cinematic ambition, Shrek 5 appears positioned to reaffirm why the series remains a landmark in animated storytelling—and to invite a new generation into the swamp’s enduring charm.
