Forgotten Island - Official Trailer 2 (2026) H.E.R., Liza Soberano, Dave Franco
Don't miss the latest trailer for Forgotten Island, an upcoming animated film from DreamWorks Animation. Forgotten Island is written and directed by Academy Award nominee Joel Crawford and Januel Mercado and is produced by Academy Award nominee Mark Swift, the filmmaking team behind Puss in Boots: The Last Wish. Forgotten Island opens in theaters on September 25, 2026.
Grammy and Academy Award-winning supernova H.E.R. and Liza Soberano (Lisa Frankenstein, Alone/Together) star as high school graduates Jo and Raissa, who have been best friends since grade school but are now about to embark on separate life paths.
While celebrating their last night together, Jo and Raissa stumble upon a mysterious portal that transports them to the fantastical island of Nakali, packed with magical and mythological creatures they grew up hearing stories about from their Filipino families.
Some of these figures will become friends, some foes. Joined by well-meaning-but-hapless weredog Raww (Dave Franco) and a small-but-mighty pack of pals, Jo and Raissa must face The Dreaded Manananggal (Tony winning icon Lea Salonga), the most feared creature on the island. When they discover that the memories of their entire friendship are the price for returning home, Jo and Raissa will race to find a way to leave the island before they forget each other forever.
The film’s all-star voice cast also includes Emmy nominee Jenny Slate (Marcel the Shell with Shoes On, Dying for Sex), Manny Jacinto (The Good Place, Top Gun: Maverick), BAFTA nominee Dolly de Leon (Triangle of Sadness, Ghostlight), global comedy superstar Jo Koy (Haunted Mansion, Jo Koy: Live from Brooklyn) and Emmy winner Ronny Chieng (The Daily Show, M3GAN).
DreamWorks Animation’s Forgotten Island is distributed by Universal Pictures.
In the evolving landscape of genre cinema, the official trailer for Forgotten Island – Official Trailer 2 (2026) offers a striking glimpse into a film that promises to blend suspense, mystery, and emotional resonance. With a cast that spans global talent, including H.E.R., Liza Soberano, and Dave Franco, the trailer signals a narrative that is intimate in its human stakes yet expansive in its sense of place.
From the opening frames, the trailer establishes an atmosphere of isolation tempered by urgent, character-driven propulsion. The imagery leans into the paradox of a paradise that hides peril, a common thread in stories where beauty masks danger and where the environment itself becomes a character with memory and motive. The visual lexicon—crisp coastal horizons, shadowed interior spaces, and transitional shots that suggest time folding in on itself—invites viewers to lean in for clues rather than sit back as passive observers.
The film’s ensemble is purposefully curated to maximize tonal range. H.E.R. brings a presence that is both lyrical and resolute, lending an emotional ballast to the film’s more perilous sequences. Liza Soberano contributes a blend of vulnerability and resolve, shaping a dramatic through-line that anchors the audience to the core human dilemma. Dave Franco, with a portfolio that alternates between roguish charm and unwavering intent, provides a counterpoint that continually shifts the dynamic within the group. Together, their dynamics promise a layered exploration of trust, leadership, and the pressures of survival in an environment where every decision carries weight.
The narrative architecture glimpsed in the trailer hints at a suspense-driven plot that navigates memory, hidden histories, and the ambiguous line between rumor and reality. Thematically, Forgotten Island appears to interrogate how communities form under duress—how alliances are forged, tested, and redefined when the island itself seems to resist disclosure. This is popcorn-level tension reimagined through a character-centric lens, where the thrill comes not only from external danger but from the internal stakes of choosing whom to trust and what to reveal.
From a technical perspective, the trailer showcases a deft balance of practical effects and cinematic craft. The production design leans into tactile textures—weathered wood, salt-tinged air, and the tactile weight of coastal rock—paired with a soundscape that elevates every heartbeat, footstep, and whispered confession. The pacing appears calibrated to build anticipation while allowing intimate moments to breathe, a combination that bodes well for a feature that seeks to sustain suspense beyond the initial reveal.
For audiences who crave a story that respects intelligence and emotional truth, Forgotten Island’s trailer suggests a film that does more than chase scares. It promises a meditation on memory, allegiance, and the moral compromises that accompany the fight for survival. As the release nears, anticipation will likely hinge on how effectively the film translates the trailer’s promise into a fully realized experience—one that respects its characters as much as its shocks, and one that rewards attentive viewing with a narrative payoff that resonates well after the credits roll.
In sum, the second official trailer for Forgotten Island arrives as a poised invitation: enter a world where beauty conceals peril, where relationships are tested under pressure, and where a cast of compelling performers must navigate both the elemental threat of the island and the complex currents of trust. If the full film sustains the energy and clarity of this trailer, audiences can expect a cinematic offering that is as thought-provoking as it is suspenseful.
