The Metro tunnels get a sharper new look
The wasteland has never been welcoming, but it has rarely looked this crisp. The Metro Redux Next Gen Update is now live for Metro 2033 Redux and Metro: Last Light Redux, bringing visual and performance upgrades to two atmospheric adventures built around the dangers lurking beneath a devastated Moscow. For details on the series, visit the official Metro website and explore the franchise’s history on IGN.
More frames, less friction
On supported consoles, players can choose between true 4K at 60 frames per second and upscaled 4K at 120 frames per second. That extra smoothness could make frantic encounters feel more responsive, while the increased resolution gives the series’ shadowy stations and ruined streets a fresh chance to impress. The update includes native support for Xbox Series X|S; the Metro Redux bundle on Xbox and the platform’s Series X|S overview offer more information.

A free return to a familiar nightmare
For existing owners of Metro 2033 Redux and Metro: Last Light Redux, the upgrade is free—an inviting reason to revisit the series without buying another copy. The update also brings community bug fixes and title-specific tweaks, a practical complement to the headline performance improvements. Newcomers can check the Xbox store listing, while 4A Games’ official site provides a closer look at the studio behind the games.
The old tunnels still have stories to tell
Metro’s appeal has always rested on more than its firefights: its cramped refuges, uneasy alliances, and constant sense of danger make every journey feel hard-won. The next-gen enhancements do not change that foundation; they give returning players a smoother, cleaner way to experience it.
