An extended look into Crombie’s experiment.
In ONTOS, you play as Aditi as she explores the repurposed moon hotel Samsara and encounters strange Experiments and other disturbing scenarios. Your morality will be tested. In this video, we’ll take you deeper into one such experiment led by Crombie, a scientist drawn to Samsara in search of answers about the essence of one’s unique, individual self. Do you trust the machine? Do you seek an alternative approach? You must investigate the environment, look for hidden clues, and decide which steps to take. ONTOS is coming to PS5 in 2027.

The extended gameplay reveal of Ontos arrives at a pivotal moment for the PS5 generation, offering a closer look at how the new title leverages the hardware’s strengths while presenting a fresh, narrative-driven experience. From its first seconds, Ontos establishes a deliberate tempo: tactile combat, cinematic set pieces, and a world that rewards exploration without sacrificing clear directional storytelling. This deeper dive into the gameplay footage highlights several core pillars that define the game’s ambition and its potential impact on the platform.
A World Built for the PS5 The environments in Ontos showcase the PS5’s capabilities through texture density, lighting fidelity, and fluidity of motion. Particle effects respond to weather and combat scenarios with a level of responsiveness that feels earned rather than ornamental. The result is a world that reads as tangible—where surfaces reflect light with nuance, and distant horizons shimmer with atmosphere. The extended footage reinforces that the game is designed to be experienced at the console’s native performance envelope, prioritizing a balanced approach to resolution, frame rate, and visual storytelling.
Tactical Combat with Fluid Dynamism Combat in Ontos appears to be a synthesis of precision and momentum. The extended reveal emphasizes initiation-then-response combat loops, where players chain light and heavy attacks, breath through stamina windows, and exploit environmental cues. A notable feature is the situational versatility of weapons and tools, which invites experimentation. When battles spill into dynamic environments—crumbling architecture, collapsing ceilings, shifting platforms—the game rewards adaptability and timing, rather than rote button mashing. The result is engagement that stays fresh over longer play sessions.
Narrative Through Mechanics Ontos uses gameplay progression to tell its story in a way that feels integrated rather than imposed. Skill trees, gear progression, and dialogue choices surface through mission objectives and side quests, guiding players toward meaningful character moments without derailing the pacing. The extended reveal hints at branching paths and consequence-driven outcomes that can alter how the narrative unfolds, offering replayability that is attractive for a broader audience of players who value both action and story.
Pacing, Scale, and Investment One of the most compelling aspects of the extended gameplay is its sense of pacing. The sequence design demonstrates a deliberate cadence: quiet, exploratory moments give way to high-stakes encounters, followed by quieter reflection and lore breadcrumbs. Scale is handled with care—peering over vast landscapes or stepping into intimate corridors—so players feel both the grandeur of the world and the weight of their choices within it. This balance is essential for maintaining long-term engagement and ensuring that the world remains immersive rather than overwhelming.
A Technical Snapshot From a technical perspective, Ontos showcases a strong alignment between ambitious design and the PS5’s capabilities. Fast load times, responsive haptics, and adaptive triggers contribute to a sense of immediacy in both traversal and combat. The extended reveal pairs these systems with thoughtful audio design and a compelling musical score that reinforces mood without overpowering gameplay. While some visual flourishes are clearly aligned with cinematic sequences, the overall presentation emphasizes coherence: every frame serves a purpose in advancing the player’s understanding of the world and their role within it.
What to Expect Next For players, the extended gameplay reveal is a confident invitation to anticipate a title that respects the PS5’s power while delivering a distinctive, character-driven adventure. As Ontos moves toward release, expectations will likely focus on how the game scales across regions and difficulties, how replayable its systems prove to be, and how its narrative choices resonate with a diverse audience.
In Summary Ontos presents itself as a modern action-adventure experience propelled by thoughtful design, robust mechanics, and a clear commitment to leveraging the PS5’s technical and creative potential. The extended gameplay reveal reinforces a vision of a living, connected world where player skill, exploration, and story progression intertwine to create a compelling, enduring experience.
