Galaxies Spring Showcase 2026

As the spring skies brighten, the Galaxies Spring Showcase 2026 invites researchers, students, families, and curious minds to explore the latest in extragalactic astronomy. Over five days, May 15-19, 2026, venues across the city will host a program designed to illuminate how we study distant galaxies, what those observations reveal about the universe, and how the public can participate in the journey of discovery.

A program designed for wide audiences – Opening keynote by Dr. Amina Patel, a leading figure in extragalactic astronomy, will set the tone for the week with insights into the next frontier of galaxy research. – Interactive exhibits cover themes from the light of distant galaxies to the growth of black holes at galactic centers. – Workshops include citizen science sessions, spectroscopy basics, and data visualization labs. – Family friendly programs include star tales, planetarium shows, and guided skywatching.

Exhibitions and experiences The lineup features immersive experiences such as The Light of Distant Galaxies, a multi channel projection showing how photons travel across cosmic time, and a Galaxy Map interactive that lets visitors trace the large scale structure of the universe. Night sky sessions will offer guided observatory tours and telescope demonstrations, weather permitting.

For professionals and students The showcase hosts a poster track and short talk sessions with opportunities for networking with researchers from partner institutions.
