Forza Horizon 6 Review
Forza Horizon 6 reviewed by Luke Reilly on Xbox Series X. Also available on Xbox Series S and PC.
"Technically, Forza Horizon 6 has not skipped a beat, and it runs like a titan. Aesthetically, it’s the best-looking and best-sounding game Playground has produced to date, set in the most wonderfully realised map it’s ever crafted – full of dense, authentic details and stunning driving roads. It’s rewarding to explore, the campaign is well-paced with a great payoff, and I simply cannot stop playing. I’ll always concede Forza Horizon 3 may forever be my favourite open-world racer, because who doesn’t love driving around their own backyard, but make no mistake: Forza Horizon 6 is unequivocally the best. The new standard in open-world racing is here, and it’s a gundamn masterpiece."

Forza Horizon 6 Review
Forza Horizon 6 arrives with a confident push beyond its already impressive predecessors, delivering a polished open-world racing experience that blends high-octane spectacle with thoughtful progression. The result is a game that feels expansive without losing focus, marrying a vibrant open world with a robust car roster, refined handling, and a living ecosystem that remains engaging from the first session to the long-term grind.
World and Exploration
The map in Forza Horizon 6 is a masterclass in scale and variety. From sun-dappled coastal roads to bustling urban districts and windy mountain passes, every biome is stitched together with a sense of place that makes exploration feel rewarding in its own right. The dynamic weather system and time-of-day changes are more than cosmetic: they alter visibility, grip, and rhythm, encouraging players to adapt driving strategies to keep every race fresh. The developers have also integrated a layered set of points of interest, seasonal events, and spontaneous challenges that encourage a continuous loop of discovery and reward.
Handling and Vehicle Variety
On the road, the handling model strikes a satisfying balance between accessibility and depth. New players can enjoy a forgiving arc, but seasoned racers will appreciate the nuance in braking, weight transfer, and grip management across a diverse fleet. The expansion of vehicle customization goes hand in hand with this, allowing meaningful adjustments that impact performance across different classes and race types. The sound design complements the experience, delivering engine notes that feel distinct across hundreds of models, from exotic hypercars to rugged off-road legends.
Content and Progression
Forza Horizon 6 doubles down on the franchise’s strengths: a steady stream of events, varied race formats, and meaningful progression without overshadowing player choice. The campaign structure is supplemented by a robust online ecosystem, featuring seasonal playlists, co-op challenges, and competitive modes that scale well with player skill. The loot- and XP-based progression is thoughtfully balanced, ensuring that new players can catch up without devaluing the achievements of veterans. In addition, there are rich leaderboards and community-driven events that keep the social aspect of racing lively and persistent.
Graphics and Performance
Technically, the game shines. The art direction captures a vibrant, sun-soaked world with sweeping vistas and meticulously detailed vehicle models. Visual effects—from tire smoke to dust plumes and rainfall caustics—elevate the sense of speed. Performance is steady across platforms, with loading times that respect the pacing of a high-speed career and a frame rate that remains smooth during chaotic, multi-car carnivals.
Soundscape and Aesthetics
The soundtrack and voice work contribute to the mood without overpowering the sense of speed. Radio transitions, realistic engine roars, and crowd ambiance create an immersive atmosphere that complements the on-track action. UI design is clean and intuitive, offering quick access to tuning, upgrades, and event selection without breaking immersion.
Verdict
Forza Horizon 6 is a compelling evolution of an already strong formula. It embraces expansive exploration, a responsive driving model, and a vibrant online ecosystem while maintaining the accessible charm that makes the Horizon series approachable for newcomers and deeply satisfying for longtime fans. If you crave a driving game that rewards curiosity, competition, and creative car builds, this entry deserves a spot on the shelf of any racing game aficionado.
