Amy Adams as a high-powered attorney with a southern accent. No notes. #CapeFear
Cape Fear is now streaming on Apple TV https://apple.co/_CapeFear
A thrilling new series from executive producers Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg starring Javier Bardem, Amy Adams, and Patrick Wilson.
Created for television by Nick Antosca.
Inspired by the 1991 remake directed by Martin Scorsese and produced by Steven Spielberg, a storm is coming for happily married attorneys Anna (Amy Adams) and Tom Bowden (Patrick Wilson) when Max Cady (Javier Bardem), the notorious killer they are responsible for putting behind bars, is let out of prison — and he wants vengeance.
Hailing from UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group, and Amblin Television, “Cape Fear” is based on both the novel “The Executioners,” which inspired Gregory Peck’s Universal Pictures feature (1962) of the same name, as well as the acclaimed 1991 remake directed by Scorsese. The series is executive produced by Steven Spielberg, who produced the 1991 film, alongside Scorsese. Creator Nick Antosca showruns and produces alongside Alex Hedlund for Eat The Cat, and Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey produce alongside Spielberg for Amblin Television. Academy Award nominee Morten Tyldum will direct the pilot and serve as executive producer. The series is developed and produced through Antosca’s overall deal at UCP, where he’s been based since 2017.

Amy Adams as a high-powered attorney with a southern accent. No notes. #CapeFear
The courtroom hums with a precise cadence, the murmured rustle of folders, the soft click of a pen, and then she enters—the kind of presence that makes the room tilt a fraction toward clarity. She carries ambition the way others carry a briefcase: secure, unmistakable, and relentlessly on-point. The southern sun sheds a steady light on the proceedings outside, but inside, the air tightens with a different gravity. This is not just a case; it’s a stage where intellect and persuasion perform at their highest stakes.
Her voice, smooth yet unyielding, threads through the dialogue like a seasoned conductor guiding an orchestra. There is warmth there—a cadence that makes a jury lean in—yet every sentence is anchored by an edge of steel. The southern inflection, familiar and melodic, softens the impact of the harshest facts while sharpening nuance. It is a strategic instrument, a ruler that marks the contours of every argument, compelling attention without shouting.
On the docket are precedents stacked like upright towers, each one a rung in a ladder toward truth. She approaches them with reverence and resolve, peeling back layers of ambiguity with disciplined questions and meticulously sourced evidence. In her world, every detail is a hinge—one moment of missed precision can swing a verdict, and she knows this with the quiet certainty of someone who has read every line of every opinion that might ever touch the case.
Her courtroom presence blends Southern politeness with prosecutorial intensity. She offers a measured smile that invites confidence, then pivots to a point of fact so exact that it feels both inevitable and undeniable. Opposing counsel attempts a counterargument, but the room notices the shift in air—the way her statements compress doubt and expand certainty. It is not theatrical; it is orchestration, the art of moving minds with data, tone, and timing.
Colleagues speak of her as a force who never calls attention to herself, yet everything she does commands attention. She builds credibility with the quiet mathematics of preparation: meticulous briefs, exhaustive research, and a courtroom map drawn with the deft precision of a seasoned navigator. Her southern accent is not a label but a cadence that reinforces credibility—familiar, trustworthy, and exacting all at once.
The cases she champions reflect a moral architecture: a commitment to due process, to the vulnerable, to a system that should bend toward fairness even when the truth is stubborn. When the evidence aligns with principle, she does not flinch; she runs the play with patient certainty, orchestrating the moment when facts cohere into verdict and justice feels within reach.
In moments of quiet reflection between objections and rulings, she contemplates the broader arc of law—the way a single decision can reverberate through communities, shaping livelihoods, headlines, and the lives of those who rely on the rule of law to level the playing field. Her work is a reminder that the courtroom is more than a theater of arguments; it is a space where responsibility is weighed with consequence, and where a deliberate, compassionate voice can bend outcomes toward what is right.
As the day closes, the courthouse doors close with the soft murmur of a city winding down. Yet her resolve remains. The case may rest, but the ethic endures: preparation as creed, persuasion as craft, and a southern-inflected voice that steadies the room while guiding it toward truth. In this tableau, the high-powered attorney stands not merely as a representative of clients but as a custodian of a process that matters beyond the verdict—one that asks each of us to trust the integrity of the pursuit, and to believe that justice, carefully argued and courageously defended, is worth every measure of effort.
