The Expanse: Osiris Reborn - Official Gameplay Trailer | Xbox Partner Preview Showcase 2026
Check out this new look at Owlcat Games' new story-driven action-RPG, The Expanse: Osiris Reborn! Set in the same universe as The Expanse novels and TV series, Osiris Reborn follows your character, a Pinkwater Security employee who survives a catastrophic incident on Eros and must build a team to fight back against Protogen and their experiments.
If you're eager to go hands on, and have purchased the Miller's Pack or Collector's Edition of the game from the Owlcat webiste, you'll be invited to the Closed BETA test starting April 22nd. In the test you'll play a mission from the early game that'll allow you to experience the combat, zero-g movement and life on a remote space station.
The Expanse: Osiris Reborn is set to launch in Spring 2027 for PC (Steam), PlayStation 5 (PS5) and Xbox Series X|S.
In the year 2026, the gaming landscape continues to push the boundaries of how we tell stories among the stars. The official gameplay trailer for The Expanse: Osiris Reborn, showcased during the Xbox Partner Preview Showcase, provides a near-term window into a revitalized franchise that marries deep strategy with cinematic space opera. This trailer is more than a teaser; it sets the tone for a game that promises to expand the universe with fresh mechanics, renewed political intrigue, and a heightened sense of scale.
First impressions center on the audiovisual fidelity. The Expanse: Osiris Reborn leverages a refined engine that emphasizes dynamic lighting, expansive ship cinematics, and tactile debris fields that respond to real-time physics. The art direction channels the weight of interstellar conflict while preserving a grounded, believable aesthetic that seasoned fans of the series will recognize. The result is a visual language that communicates urgency, isolation, and the awe of traversing an unforgiving frontier.
Gameplay is where the trailer truly hints at the core experience. Players are invited to orchestrate complex fleet movements across sprawling maps, balancing resource management, fleet composition, and strategic diplomacy. The presence of orbital mechanics-inspired systems suggests a layer of realism that compels careful planning: propulsion costs, fuel pacing, and maneuver efficiency emerge as essential levers for victory. The trailer hints at multi-layered engagement, from macro fleet campaigns to micro-level ship battles that reward precision and adaptation.
Narrative weight is a hallmark of The Expanse universe, and Osiris Reborn appears poised to deepen that lineage. The trailer introduces new factions and characters whose alliances and rivalries promise high-stakes political storytelling. Expect faction-specific tech trees, covert operations, and procedural missions that react to the broader geopolitical chessboard. This narrative scaffolding is designed to engage players beyond mere conquest, inviting them to negotiate, betray, or unify in pursuit of overarching strategic objectives.
From a systems perspective, players should anticipate a refined onboarding experience that gradually introduces complex mechanics without diminishing strategic depth. The Xbox Partner Preview showcases tools and interfaces that streamline fleet management, scouting, and resource allocation, while preserving the tactical complexity that hardcore strategists crave. Accessibility features appear to be thoughtfully integrated, ensuring that veterans and newcomers alike can engage meaningfully with the core loop.
In terms of progression and longevity, Osiris Reborn seems positioned to offer a living, evolving battlefield. The trailer alludes to post-launch content, including new theaters of operation, additional factions, and extended campaign arcs that will broaden the narrative canvas and replayability. For fans of the Expanse universe and strategy enthusiasts alike, this suggests a title built for long-term immersion rather than a one-and-done experience.
The Xbox Partner Preview Showcase has a track record of spotlighting titles that push technical boundaries while delivering compelling play experiences. If The Expanse: Osiris Reborn follows through on the cues established in the trailer, players can expect a robust blend of strategic depth, cinematic presentation, and immersive storytelling. The anticipation now shifts from trailer to hands-on exploration, as players examine how the game translates these promises into tangible systems, balanced design, and meaningful player choice.
Bottom line: The Expanse: Osiris Reborn appears to be a thoughtfully crafted entry into space strategy, one that honors the series’ rich lore while introducing fresh mechanics and narrative dimensions. The official gameplay trailer positions the game as a potentially defining chapter in 2026’s strategy landscape, inviting players to chart their course among the stars with precision, diplomacy, and nerve.
