Lionel Rafale Brings a New Rhythm to Virtua Fighter
The latest look at Virtua Fighter Crossroads introduces Lionel Rafale, a fighter whose Praying Mantis-inspired style promises to make close quarters feel especially dangerous. The reveal trailer points to a combatant built around quick bursts of offense, giving his attacks a sharp, sudden rhythm. A Mantis Style Made for Close-Range Pressure
Lionel’s defining strength appears to be his ability to keep opponents under pressure once he gets within striking distance. That close-range approach suggests a fighter who rewards decisive movement and relentless offense, rather than waiting patiently for an opening. The trailer also highlights powerful throws, adding another threat to the exchanges and giving rivals more than quick strikes to worry about. Every Exchange Could Turn in an Instant
The appeal of a character like Lionel lies in the tension between speed and commitment. His fast offensive bursts may force opponents to react on the fly, while his throws could punish anyone who becomes too comfortable defending at close range. That combination gives Lionel Rafale a clear identity in the early reveal: an aggressive presence designed to make every moment in striking distance count. The Road to 2027 Begins
Virtua Fighter Crossroads is scheduled to arrive in 2027, leaving plenty of time for more fighters and gameplay details to emerge. For now, Lionel’s reveal offers a focused first impression: a Praying Mantis-inspired combatant built around speed, pressure, and throws. As the game’s roster takes shape, his style could become one of its most compelling tests of timing and close-range decision-making. Keep an eye on SEGA and IGN for future updates.
