Take a look at the Official Trailer for Capturing Bigfoot, a documentary following the story of Roger Patterson’s pursuit of Bigfoot, distributed by XYZ Films. Navigate the woods of Northern California in Capturing Bigfoot, coming soon.

The documentary follows the story of Roger Patterson’s pursuit of Bigfoot, who on October 20, 1967, captured 59 seconds of film showing a creature (dubbed “Patty”) walking through the woods of Northern California—footage that became the most analyzed and debated in history. When a reel of 16mm film discovered in a safe five decades later blows the legend wide open, the people who were there come together to give the full picture.

Director Marq Evans (“Claydream”) and producer Tamir Ardon (“Claydream,” “Skywalkers: A Love Story”) infuse this story of family and fabulists with a striking emotional heft, featuring never-before-seen archival footage and original interviews with figures both famous and infamous within the vibrant Bigfoot community. Including Bob Heironimus, Bob Gimlin, Jeff Meldrum, Greg Long, Bill Munns, as well as Roger’s own son, Clint Patterson, and Clint’s mother, Patricia Patterson, both of whom have never before engaged in interviews on the subject. In whole, the doc amounts to the most momentous shake-up of the billion-dollar Bigfoot industry to hit the big screen since Patterson himself toured the nation with his proof of Patty.

Capturing Bigfoot is coming soon.

In the world of documentary and thrill-driven storytelling, few prompts compel a viewer’s curiosity quite like the elusive figure known as Bigfoot. The official trailer for Capturing Bigfoot delivers a precise blend of suspense, science, and local lore, signaling a film that is less about sensationalism and more about the patient pursuit of truth.

From the opening frame, the trailer establishes a mood: a dense, mist-draped forest that feels both timeless and treacherous. The camera lingers on footprints pressed into soft earth, the kind that invite interpretation yet resist confirmation. The sound design reinforces the tension—subtle rustling, distant howls, and a heartbeat-like cadence that quickens as the investigative team narrows in on stubborn questions rather than easy conclusions.

What sets this trailer apart is its measured balance between expert testimony and experiential storytelling. We hear from researchers who outline methodological approaches—track beds, video analysis, and environmental DNA—without ever drifting into jargon. Their calm, methodical voices anchor the narrative, reminding viewers that the pursuit of something as legendary as Bigfoot can reveal as much about human curiosity as it does about the unknown.

Interwoven with the technical discourse are intimate vignettes: a field biologist revisiting a long-standing sighting, a family recounting a childhood encounter, and a sheriff’s department log that chronicles odd, unexplainable events. These human threads add emotional gravity, elevating a mystery into a personal journey for those who choose to listen.

The trailer threads a brisk, cinematic tempo with strategic reveals—a footprint here, a silhouette there, a night-vision glimpse that turns out to be a trick of the light. Each cut is purposeful, designed to heighten anticipation while inviting viewers to participate in the process: question the evidence, scrutinize the sources, and decide what to believe when probability points in multiple directions.

Cinematographically, Capturing Bigfoot leans into the texture of the environment—the way fog glides between pines, the way rain beads on a camera lens, the soft glow of a campfire that casts shadows both comforting and uncanny. The score remains restrained, permitting the imagery and the narrative to do the heavy lifting while ensuring the pace remains taut and deliberate.

By the trailer’s end, the audience is left with a clear premise: this film is not simply about catching a glimpse of a myth. It is about the discipline of inquiry, the tension between legend and evidence, and the discipline required to document what one finds—whatever the outcome may be.

Capturing Bigfoot promises a documentary experience that respects the craft of field research, honors local voices, and invites viewers to engage with the mystery in a thoughtful, informed way. It’s a trailer that doesn’t sell fear, but it does sell curiosity—and in doing so, it casts a compelling light on a story that has haunted the margins of popular culture for generations.
