Following the fall of the Royal House of Goriok, several decades ago, the imperial army of Hypsys, the powerful god from the distant constellations, had been unemployed for several years. This situation caused the guardians of the Empire to show signs of anxiety day after day. Facing a possible rebellion, the great Yem-Sular, Priest of priests, revived a primitive ceremony that had been held when Hypsys was still a warrior people.

This bloody ritual took place once a year, and in it thousands of warriors competed to the death to achieve the highest honor: infinite wisdom, the secret of immortality. Only one can be chosen; only one can survive…
