Cape Fear is now streaming on Apple TV https://apple.co/_CapeFear

A thrilling new series from executive producers Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg starring Javier Bardem, Amy Adams, and Patrick Wilson.

Created for television by Nick Antosca.

Inspired by the 1991 remake directed by Martin Scorsese and produced by Steven Spielberg, a storm is coming for happily married attorneys Anna (Amy Adams) and Tom Bowden (Patrick Wilson) when Max Cady (Javier Bardem), the notorious killer they are responsible for putting behind bars, is let out of prison — and he wants vengeance.

Hailing from UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group, and Amblin Television, “Cape Fear” is based on both the novel “The Executioners,” which inspired Gregory Peck’s Universal Pictures feature (1962) of the same name, as well as the acclaimed 1991 remake directed by Scorsese. The series is executive produced by Steven Spielberg, who produced the 1991 film, alongside Scorsese. Creator Nick Antosca showruns and produces alongside Alex Hedlund for Eat The Cat, and Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey produce alongside Spielberg for Amblin Television. Academy Award nominee Morten Tyldum will direct the pilot and serve as executive producer. The series is developed and produced through Antosca’s overall deal at UCP, where he’s been based since 2017.

Something wicked this way comes. A new episode of #CapeFear premieres Friday.

As the week tiptoes toward the edge of Friday, the anticipation around Cape Fear climbs from a whisper into a palpable pulse. A new episode arrives with the season’s signature blend of tension, ambition, and small-town grit, ready to pull viewers deeper into the maze of loyalties and legends that define the Cape Fear universe.

From the first frame, the episode establishes a careful rhythm: a quiet, almost ceremonial calm that gives way to a torrent of consequence. Characters who have long stood on the margins find themselves drawn into the storm, their choices echoing far beyond the episode’s runtime. The writers lean into the show’s strengths—sharp dialogue, meticulously crafted settings, and moral ambiguity that refuses to bow to easy answers—ensuring that every scene pushes the overarching narrative forward while inviting viewers to reassess their loyalties.

The premiere angle pivots on a core tension that seasoned fans will recognize: the lure of power versus the responsibility that accompanies it. As old factions reassemble and new ones emerge, the storyline threads together past betrayals with present temptations, all under a neon-hued sky that seems to watch and weigh each protagonist’s next move.

Visual storytelling remains a high point. The episode uses lighting, weather cues, and period-accurate production design to create a mood that is at once oppressive and seductive. The camera work shifts between intimate close-ups that reveal character fragility and sweeping, ominous tableaux that imply consequences larger than any single character can bear.

Performance-wise, the ensemble delivers with a measured intensity. Each actor brings a clarified intention to scenes that could easily become melodrama, reinforcing the series’ commitment to character-driven drama. Supporting players contribute texture and subtext, turning even brief exchanges into meaningful threads that enrich the fabric of the world.

For fans of the franchise, this Friday’s premiere promises payoffs that feel earned rather than manufactured. For newcomers, it offers a doorway into a story that rewards patience and replay value—where clues hidden in dialogue and setting reward careful attention. The episode does not shy away from the series’ darker themes; instead, it invites reflection on legacy, consent, and the costs of ambition.

As the clock ticks toward broadcast time, anticipation builds for what comes next. Will the town’s old guard tighten their grip, or will a new vision break through the noise? What secrets will surface, and who will be asked to bear the weight of them? One thing is certain: Something wicked this way comes, and the Friday premiere sets the stage for a chapter rich with intrigue, consequence, and the irresistible pull of Cape Fear.
